This Is Scary...

Found this piece (Nader and La Follette: History Repeats Itself) on AlterNet this morning. The similarities are truly scary. Does this imply that Bush or Gore's ascension to US president, endorsed by and beholden to the robber-barons (i.e., global multi-national corporations) will help trigger another worldwide depression?

This is not a completely irrational theory. As the taming of the "Asian Tigers" and the oligarchies of OPEC's realization that lots more money can be made from their dead dinosaur sludge have recently shown, global interdependence mixed with national/regional arrogance can have a disastrous impact on the world's economic health. Throw in a few screwball alliances (the European Union, World Trade Organization, the US/Israel/Arafat) and we could easily end up with a simultaneous reoccurrence of World War I AND 1929. We also have much cooler weapons of mass destruction and a greater worldwide economic interdependence today than we had back then, so the impending meltdown should go much quicker (if that's any comfort to you).

Just a little food for thought to those of you cruising along in your SUVs and contemplating your stock options, convinced that your vote DOESN'T MATTER.

Just gettin' started here. This thing will mostly be my silly ramblings on current events I notice while mindlessly surfing the web. Sort of a travelogue of human stupidity...
